I Got Insanely Upset When Bambi Yanked All the Tulips
I am not kidding.
For the last three weeks, my husband and I have been protecting a row of tulip plants. Who’s the enemy? Bambi and his family. They came to our front yard and treated themselves with our tulips.
Since the beginning of Spring, we have used all kinds of repellents and sticks to protect the tiny tulip plants. But nothing worked. Bambi’s gang got used to the stinky garlic capsules, coyote urine, and those smells that make me sick.
They first ate a few tulips here and there, the next day another bunch, and the third day only left a few.
I know I am not the only homeowner who prays to God and all Saints to keep Bambi away every year. But we all know what happens; Bambi wins.
All this is insanely upsetting, right?
Fortunately, a trip to the hardware store calmed me a little.
I was looking for a few sticks to protect the last surviving five or six tulips in the yard when a few plants in the perennials section called me.
Surprise! The last two containers with about two dozen tulip bulbs in each. They will bloom in about three weeks.
When I got home with the containers, I thought, what’s the point of planting tulips…
