Confession of a Cheater
I stood behind three people in line at the Target Customer Service counter last week. Two attendants serviced the customers in line. A third young lady behind one of the registers seemed free. A glance at the enormous bags of returns and exchanges of the people before me almost convinced me to leave and come back later. I only had two pants that needed the removal of the security tags. At the self-checkout the night before, I did not notice the tags when I paid. I impulsively walked to the young lady and asked if she could free the pants. Her eyes lighted up, and she said, “Yes, let me see the receipt.” After checking it, she removed the tags. On my way out, I noticed the people in the line seemed unhappy.
OMG, I cut the line at Target. I realized a few hours later.
The evil angel whispered, “Don’t worry. It would have taken at least half an hour to get the tags removed. You didn’t have that time. Shame on those people with large bags.”
The good angel whispered in the other ear, “Noooo! You cut the line. Remember all the times you complained about people cutting the lines!”
I remembered the day I heard that some people had been cheating to get the vaccine ahead of their age or condition groups. I reacted immediately; people shouldn’t do that — shame on them.
